Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland delivered the 2022 Federal Budget on April 7 which contains specific measures that include the nuclear sector. Entitled, A Plan to Grow Our Economy and Make Life More Affordable, the budget includes “targeted and responsible investments to create jobs and prosperity today and build a stronger economic future for all Canadians.”
Bruce Power appreciates the federal government’s recognition of the importance of nuclear innovation in Budget 2022, including new supports for development of clean electricity and small modular reactors (SMRs). We look forward to continuing to work with the government on our shared priority of leveraging new and existing clean electricity assets in the nuclear sector to march forward on Canada’s path to Net Zero by 2050.
