Community betterment and charitable endeavours have been important to Bruce Power and Mike Rencheck during his eight years as President and CEO, so it was fitting that his retirement also included a donation to an organization that is serving and helping our local communities.
Bruce Power, unions and supplier partners capped Rencheck’s June 19 retirement event with a donation of $150,000 to Huron Shores Hospice, an organization his wife Carol also supports as Chair of its Board of Directors. The donation combined $75,000 raised from the event with $75,000 from 38 industry partner companies as part of the Bruce Power’s 2024 Supplier Sponsorship Program.
“Being able to make a significant donation to Huron Shores Hospice on behalf of Bruce Power, unions and our supplier partners is a remarkable way to bring my tenure to a close,” said Rencheck, who officially relinquishes his role on June 29, but will remain as Bruce Power’s Executive Vice Chair. “The Hospice provides an invaluable service in our communities and does so with such grace for people and their families.”
Cathy Herbert, Executive Director of the Hospice, thanked the Renchecks for their continued support.
“Mike and Carol have both given a great deal of time and effort in helping Huron Shores Hospice provide services and programs to our communities and I’d like to thank them and wish them the best,” Herbert said. “Bruce Power and its supplier partners continue to show great support and we’re incredibly humbled by this donation.”
The Bruce Power Supplier Sponsorship Program aligns the company’s vendor partners, raising more than $650,000 in 2024 to support local, provincial and national non-profit organizations that focus on Indigenous youth, health and wellness organizations, Canadian veterans, community initiatives, and hospital foundations.
