Bruce Power and supplier partners donate $100,000 to Huron Shores Hospice campaign

Ahead of the Huron Shores Hospice Handbags for Hospice: The Power of the Purse gala on Sept. 15, Bruce Power and its supplier partners have announced they are donating $100,000 to the fundraising campaigns.

Bruce Power has committed $25,000, while its supplier partners have made a generous donation of $75,000.

“We are so grateful for the generous support of Bruce Power and its suppliers,” said Cheryl Cottrill, Co-chair of Huron Shores Hospice. “With over $300,000 required to be raised in our community each year, this partnership goes a long way in helping us meet our fundraising goal and allows us to provide quality end-of-life care to those in our community needing our services.”

The gala event is making its in-person return following successful virtual events during COVID and is already sold out. The money raised goes to sustain the organization’s two-bed residential suites that ensure quality end-of-life care and grief recovery for members of the community.

“Bruce Power and our supplier partners recognize the invaluable service that the Huron Shores Hospice provides in our communities and we’re glad to be able to help with fundraising efforts to sustain it,” said Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power’s President and CEO.

The Bruce Power Supplier Sponsorship Program aligns the company’s vendor partners with local, provincial and national non-profit organizations that focus on Indigenous youth, health and wellness organizations, Canadian veterans and local Legions, community initiatives, food banks, and hospital foundations. Forty suppliers are supporting the program in 2022, which donates about $600,000 to these initiatives annually.
