Bruce Power prides itself on providing opportunities for the next generation of skilled workers and is pleased to once again be named as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People.
This is the 13th consecutive year that the company has been presented this honour in an editorial competition organized by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. The award was given in recognition of Bruce Power’s programs for young people, including online and in-house training programs, employee resource and affinity groups, development student program for work experience, and industry leading career development opportunities.
“Young people play a vital role in our diverse workforce here at Bruce Power and we recognize that offering programs and training, as well as a safe, fulfilling work environment, will help employees develop into the leaders of tomorrow,” said Karen Smith, Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer.
Canada’s Top Employers for Young People is an editorial competition that recognizes employers offering the nation’s best workplaces and programs for young people starting their careers. Winners are chosen based on the programs and initiatives they offer to attract and retain younger workers. The editors also examine each employer’s mentorship and training programs, including benefits such as bonuses paid on completing trades or professional designations. The editors also review each employer’s career management program, looking for initiatives that help younger workers advance faster in the organization.
Jason Ng, President of the Bruce Chapter of North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN), said the group has an active membership that supports the development of nuclear workers while also providing social outlets and encouraging community outreach.
“The NAYGN is proud to work alongside Bruce Power in encouraging our members to reach their full potential to become leaders in the industry,” Ng said. “Bruce Power is a great place to work and the company provides a wide array of opportunities for everyone.”
Bruce Power’s Life-Extension Program and Major Component Replacement Project will extend the life of the site to 2064 and beyond, long-term investments in its nuclear fleet that will provide employment and career opportunities in an exciting industry for decades to come.
