February 14, 2025 – Bruce Power’s Unit 2 was proactively removed from service on Feb. 13 due to a high volume of fish (gizzard shad) in the Bruce A intake channel.
The Bruce A Operations team made the conservative decision to remove Unit 2 from service while mitigation measures are being implemented. Bruce Power is investigating possible factors that could be contributing to this event, including gizzard shad sensitivities to cold lake temperatures.
Bruce A’s Unit 1 remains in service, while Units 3 and 4 are offline for their Major Component Replacement Projects. Bruce B units 6, 7 and 8 are operating at high power while Unit 5 is offline for a planned maintenance outage.
